Cannabis has enormous economic importance, considering that all parts of the cannabis plant are used, seeds for food, stem for fiber, and flowers/leaves for medicine. In this research, we have developed tools and techniques that have potential applications to advance cannabis breeding and genetic engineering for germplasm improvement, preservation, and multiplication. Specifically, we developed research methods including rapid and efficient seed germination in sterile conditions, pollen germination assay to assess viability, long-term pollen storage to preserve the germplasm, tissue culture method for mass production of genetically identical plants, and transient expression method to study the gene function.en_US
