This research explores the health care experiences of refugees settling in Canada. The objective of the study is to understand the health care needs of refugee women and identify strategies that can help improve their understanding, access, navigation and utilization of the Canadian health care system and the services within. An exploratory qualitative research approach informed by the Intersectionality Feminist Framework was employed. Using a purposive sampling technique, data was collected through six focus group discussions and seven in-depth individual interviews from six study locations. The data was analyzed and interpreted using inductive thematic analysis through a social constructivist lens. The findings reveal that the role of gender, educational background, expectations, settlement locations, sociocultural and language differences were significant in the integration of refugee women into the Canadian health care system. Future research or interventions should consider a practical and dynamic approach to ensure a comprehensive understanding of refugee women’s health needs and experiences.en_US
