dc.description.abstract | This project is about diversity. It shows diversity by telling stories. The stories are those of teachers and students, woven together into a single narrative to give some expression to the diversity, variety, and richness that exists in most teaching environments, inside and outside of schools, in teachers and in students. The stories are woven together to illustrate a central theme, a teacher and his students working to come to terms with themselves, with their uniqueness and with each other. It is about moving from fear to acceptance, from ignorance to understanding, from hiding to truth, from mourning about who and what we are to accepting ourselves with joy. It is about finding the integrity to be, the integrity to let be, and the integrity to teach. Topics addressed or illustrated in these stories include addiction, suicide, physical and emotional abuse, sexual orientation, narrative writing (therapy), poetry therapy, journal writing, healing and faith. The themes and stories presented through narrative are further illustrated and strengthened by quotations, poems and journal entries. | en |
