Abstract
This newsletter article provides background information about the painting “City of Lethbridge” which is owned by the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery (Object no. 1971.2). The painting shows a detailed bird's-eye view of Lethbridge, Alberta as it would have appeared in 1912. Gibson Catlett (b. Aug. 22, 1866, d. May 25, 1935) is the artist thought to have produced the work. The painting was intended for use in a brochure advertising the Dominion Square subdivision being promoted by Mr. William Mitford of Mitford & Co. real estate developers.
