This project was the results of a survey sent to five hundred schools in Alberta in the Spring of 1995 to assess the perceptions of educators about what was happening with respect to low and high technology. The return rate was approximately 40% and the volunteer sample represented 13% of Alberta schools across three levels of elementary, junior high, and high school. An examination of the educational literature implied that traditional media is being largely disregarded in favor of newer electronic technology. However, analysis of the survey data gathered indicated that both forms of technology were used on a regular basis in the classroom. The survey also indicated that there was a strong need for planned transition that would support diffusion and adoption at the electronic media into the larger family of institutional media.en
