dc.description.abstract | This study discusses the effect of the implementation of a conflict resolution and peer mediation program in a small school with two classes of Grade Five, Six and Seven students. The purpose of this study was to determine whether students who are so dose in age and know each other very well can learn to solve problems amongst themselves in a positive way, if a peer mediation program is put into effect. The effectiveness of this training was measured by using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Surveys were distributed to the students and mediators plus interviews were conducted. Further data was gathered through administrator's incident reports, noon-hour supervisor reports and peer mediator reports. Although this sample group is unique in its size and structure, there was a positive correlation between fewer conflicts and conflict mediation training, similar to existing studies of larger schools with different populations. | en |
